Jay grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He earned a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas and an MBA from Southern Methodist University. He also is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Jay has extensive experience as a commercial lender, investment banker and private equity investor. In these roles, he developed skills in credit analysis, mezzanine and equity investing, valuing private securities and advising on divestitures and acquisitions. Over the course of his career, he has worked for several world-class financial services companies including JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and KPMG. He also has experience as a C-level executive of a small publicly-traded company. As a mezzanine investor, Jay has been the lead investment professional for 16 investments, representing $117 million in capital invested.
Jay is actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations including the Dallas Fort Worth Private Equity Forum, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Dallas Association of Investment Analysts and the Southwest Venture Forum. He also serves on the Session of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and the President’s Council of Dallas Theological Seminary. He formerly served as Moderator of the Diaconate of his church and as a board member of Dallas Summer Musicals.
Jay is married with four children and enjoys bird-hunting, fly-fishing, coaching, playing baseball and studying Civil War history.
